The conumdrum of mortgage rates.

If you track the market, bank rates are still low regardless of the PRIME. Link According to A. Greenspan, this is a Conumdrum (definition), because they simply don't know why the demand on treasury bonds is so high, is it all because of China? Is China keeping us afloat? I wonder if not only China but the rest of the Global market, and the now so-called Global Economy is affecting our market here.

Hunger

Last night, I went to St. Clement's Church down in Oakland Park. It was sad to see the church with less than half of attendance. It also had no choir and a few catholics gathered for a Sunday mass (It was rainy but pretty empty)

Anyways, the priest made a homily related to the celebration of the eucharist and how his bread IS the sacrament of sharing. This homily reminded me of the ones I used to listen back in my country.

".... No more than 10% of the world controls 90% of the resources, and while thousands of
people die of starvation in Africa, Asia, or South America, millions of obsese
people also perish due overeating in the developed world..... What a contradiction!"

How could you bring the faith to the hungry? What would you do to help those kids in need all over the world not to fall for the culture of death and revenge? Locally, wee feel sad for the homeless we see them on the streets.... dirty and mad. At least in America, there are shelters and means to help this people. In the 3rd world, the problem is so bad and endemic running for generations, and any aid is just insufficient to fight this monster worsened daily. (http://www.madre.org/articles/int/neoliberalism.html, http://disweb.org/marta/pov.html). Many catholic bishops who see this problem daily have made the assumption that we should focus on the roots of the problem not the symptoms (http://www.wtopnews.com/index.php?nid=432&sid=473362, http://www.weforum.org/site/knowledgenavigator.nsf/Content/_S7515?open).

Again, the question is: Are we going to continue celebrating mass, and pretending we share the bread of Christ with others, when we do nothing to help our brothers in need? God sent the bread, the mana, to Israel in their journey to the promised land. They lost faith when there was no food, God in his mercy helped them in the middle of the dessert. Remember God made the Israelites share the Mana and not keep it... why? Teach them a lesson about greed? In times of starvation, I'll provide the food and you should give it to others?

Are we 21st century Christians, expecting God to drop his Mana over Africa, Asia, or Latin America? Unless we do something for others, we are just being selfish worrying about ourselves, and becoming deaf and blind to the real problems of the world. We don't know how blessed we are.

If you are in the area, visit St. Clement's at http://maps.google.com/maps?q=2975+NORTH+ANDREWS+AVENUE,+FORT+LAUDERDALE+FL+33311&spn=0.026855,0.056714&hl=en

Work Work

I have a long day to go.... I need to mow the lawn, clean the pool, fix someone's laptop (why did I have to open my mouth?) and see if I get started on my other projects. At least there is no work tomorrow, well work means the place I get paid, but it does NOT imply that I will be taking a 24 hr nap. I may have to start a blog with my projects....

Jesus! It's a beautiful day, I should get started now, I hope to be done before 11:00... take a shower and go to mass.
